My New Friend Davio

During the last presidential election, I use to get really upset when I would enter my local grocery store because of this African American gentleman that was exuberent about BHO. Even today he told me how Hussein was the most important person in the world. You see, Davio views Hussein as "The chosen one". I did my best to avoid him and not let him get to me. It's hard because he sits out front of the store entrance with every possible BO image/souvinir/t-shirt ever made which you can own for a sizable donation.

Well today, we actually fought in a civil manner. But Davio let it slip that he use to be a member of the velvedeers. A Doo-Wop group in the 50's. I aksed him if he had done the "chitlin" circuit and got an emphatic "hell ya".

From there we talked about Jackie Wilson and Sam Cook, the Reverend Richard Pennimen (little Richard) Sly and the Family Stone,Ike and Tina and on and on and on until I had to say, "I gotta go, the Ice cream is melting". It was a wonderful conversation. We exchanged I love you's when I left and I honestly felt the sincerity. I left with a great feeling of turning an annoyance into a friendship.

Sometimes you just have to keep your opinion to yourself for the sake of friendship.

American Crooners

Any singer in America that really wants to call himself a singer needs to challenge a classic crooner song from the 30's to the 60's. Unfortunately, Rock and the counter culture killed the crooner in the 70's.

But if you look back into the early sixties, you can find great songs that will put a chill in anyone with a warm heartbeat. These songs are hidden away, forgotten and tucked in like hidden jewels.

If you want a Crooner starter Kit let me give you a list of songs to search for on Youtube:

Indian Love cry
Blue Moon
Crying
Surrender
It Had To Be You
Volare
Return to Me
Heaven(Dancing cheek to cheek)
I've got a crush on you
The way you look tonight
La Paloma
Anything Dean Martin
Most things Sinatra
Lots of things Elvis from the movies.*(these are gems I spoke of tucked away)

Now go do your homework and take your mind off of plane crashes.

Disappoint turns to Anger Turns to Gratefulness

Three people in New Orleans were disappointed Thursday night to find that their flight from N.O. to Buffalo was delayed 3 hours. The three were rerouted to another flight later after they exchanged their tickets on flight 3407 (connecting in Newark) to a different route.

Message:Sometimes delays can save your life.

Many of you will remember my story of how a car that took a LONG time to make a left turn in front of me saved my life. The delay was usual in this town, but it got on your nerves. Some towns don't require people do drive like they do in metropolitan cities. (Just drive in Boston; you'll see what I mean) But the car finally makes the left turn allowing the rest of us to pass. The 2nd car in Front of me was crushed by a falling telephone pole.

Learn to be patient and grateful.

Clarence Center/Buffalo Plane Crash

My take on this devastating tragedy in no way denigrates those who lost their lives. I respect free will. They decided to fly in winter conditions to get home or to their point of destination sooner. May God be with them.

My Advice to Every One: Don't Challenge Mother Nature.

I learned in the early 90's when I was traveling so much I felt more at home in a United Terminal than my domicile, that you can almost always get a flight out in GOOD weather.

If you've ever been driving in southern California on I-5 and hit a blanket of solid Fog, you'll find yourself driving on FAITH. That's not a good driving advantage. Fog, geese and collapsing bridges are some the conditions you can't always avoid. But even if the airports start moving planes; don't fly until the storm leaves. Don't "head over the pass" in your car until the snow storm is gone.

It's not worth it.

Do the right thing? How about THINK the right thing?

Actions begin in your mind. The movie The Secret teaches "Thoughts Become Things" The Bible says "As a man (person)Thinketh so shall he be". Spke Lee says, Do the right thing.

Easier said than done for some people; But Ace says "Think the right Thing". Confirm your thoughts.

Then go out and do it naturally.
