What good can we do on our own?
The Christian believes that God controls all. That everything that exists is of God and belongs to God. God allows the sun to shine on both the righteous and the wicked. He allows fortune and misfortune to affect both his children and those that despise and reject Him. So if you are a child of God; what in life is worth fearing?
God makes all things to happen for the "good" of those who love him and are called to his purpose (Romans 8:28)
We know that death can not hold us if we have the Holy spirit in us. For as Christ rose on the 3rd day so shall those who believe, repent, confess and are baptized for the remission of their sins.
So since God is in control of all, what say do we have in our lives? God did bless us with the gift/curse of "Free Will". Love is not love with out free will.
But in John 15:22 Jesus said to his disciples "Without me; you can do nothing". Paul says in Philippians "I can do all things through "Him" who strengthens me".
So no matter what your situation is; know that the author of the scenario is God. God will allow you to use your will to worry about things, make lots of noise and spend lots of money to attain satisfaction. But in the end, God's will shall prevail. Understanding this simple principal is the beginning of wisdom.
